Uijeongbu's First Riverside Marathon 'Dongo Masilrun' Held Dong-o Masillun (RUN) Poster.

The city of Uijeongbu in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) will host its first-ever river marathon event.

On the 16th, Uijeongbu City announced that about 500 participants gathered at Dong-o Elementary School playground will run along the Jungnangcheon and Buyongcheon areas starting from 4 PM on the 19th. There is no participation fee, and the event will be operated as a NO-record race to ensure a fun and safe running experience.

The marathon, directly hosted and organized by the city, will begin preparations such as distributing bib numbers from 2 PM on Saturday the 19th. After the opening ceremony at 3:30 PM, participants will walk to Dong-o Station and start running at 4 PM.

The course is divided into two options: 6 km and 10 km routes along Jungnangcheon and Buyongcheon. The 6 km (Happiness Course) starts from Dong-o Station, passes the Mujigae Bridge in Jangam-dong, and returns. The 10 km (Health Course) also starts from Dong-o Station, passes Jangam Island Castle, and returns.

Held in conjunction with the '7th Dong-o Masil Festa,' this Dong-o Masil Run will provide finishers with an iced Americano and a beer coupon. Additionally, participants who present receipts totaling over 30,000 KRW from Dong-o Village shopping district on the day can participate in a local currency reward refund program (10,000 KRW).

For safety management, emergency medical technicians will be on standby at the medical headquarters set up at the gathering point to respond to emergencies. An emergency medical system is also established to quickly transport patients if needed. Furthermore, to ensure smooth event progress, traffic and bicycle roads will be controlled, and about 140 staff members including event personnel will be mobilized for thorough preparation.

A city official stated, “Uijeongbu is surrounded by Suraksan, Cheonbosan, Sapaesan, and Dobongsan mountains, and features a natural environment where streams flowing down the mountain slopes pass through the city center. Through this marathon event, citizens will have easy access to the rivers and can enjoy the beautiful waterfront scenery.”

Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, “We sincerely welcome all participants, including marathon clubs that brighten the event, running crews, and families, and hope everyone completes the race safely without injury.”
