Yangju City to Conduct Regular Maintenance of Yangju Area Resource Recovery Facility in the Second Half of the Year

Yangju Resource Recovery Facility (Municipal Waste Incineration Plant).

Yangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kang Su-hyun) announced on the 16th that it will conduct the second half of the year regular maintenance of the Yangju Area Resource Recovery Facility (municipal waste incineration plant) located in Eunhyeon-myeon from the 26th to December 6th.

The Yangju Area Resource Recovery Facility operates 24 hours continuously and conducts regular maintenance twice a year to prevent serious breakdowns and to process municipal waste stably.

This maintenance work will involve servicing a total of 12 major equipment items at the resource recovery facility, including replacing the pyrolysis drum heating tubes.

During the maintenance period, the facility will be repaired sequentially to minimize downtime for smooth waste processing, and some waste will be diverted to the Sudokwon Landfill Site to reduce inconvenience to citizens.

In particular, since municipal waste incineration will be unavailable during the maintenance period, citizens are being actively encouraged to voluntarily participate in reducing waste generation by minimizing household waste and practicing proper waste separation.

An official from the city stated, “Regular maintenance is conducted to improve the processing efficiency of the resource recovery facility, ensuring smooth municipal waste treatment and reducing air pollutants such as fine dust,” and added, “We ask for citizens’ active cooperation in reducing municipal waste and properly separating recyclables to ensure stable waste processing during the maintenance period.”
