February 2022, Phone Call with Mirae Korea Research Institute Staff
Recording of No Jong-myeon, Democratic Party Lawmaker, Released
Allegations Raised Over Manipulation of Unpublished Poll Report
A recording revealing evidence that Myung Tae-gyun, a key figure in the 'Kim Geon-hee’s interference in candidate nomination' suspicion, manipulated opinion polls has been disclosed. According to the recording, Myung instructed an employee of an opinion polling agency just before the last presidential election to adjust the results in favor of then-candidate Yoon Seok-yeol.
No Jong-myeon, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, said on the SBS radio program 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show' on the 16th, "It is important to understand the context in which dozens of unpublished opinion polls conducted by the Mirae Korea Research Institute, where Myung appears to have been involved, were carried out."

In a call with an employee of the Mirae Korea Research Institute, Myung confirmed, "If you calculate the voting rate by age, it all goes up around 60 years old, right, Yoon Seok-yeol?" and said, "You have to calculate that and input it." The Mirae Korea Research Institute, an opinion polling agency, conducted unpublished opinion polls on the People Power Party candidate during the last presidential election period. Earlier, Kang Hye-kyung, who worked on opinion polling with Myung, claimed that Myung provided unpublished opinion poll results to Yoon Seok-yeol’s camp 26 times for free, and that former lawmaker Kim Young-sun received a nomination in the June 2022 by-election as a reward.
When asked by the host whether he judged that there was complete illegality or manipulation in the opinion polls, Representative No said, "It is not at that stage yet," but raised doubts, saying, "How did Myung, who is a credit defaulter, afford to conduct costly opinion polls?" He argued that the source of funds for the costs incurred during multiple unpublished opinion polls should be clarified and whether there was any quid pro quo transaction should be investigated. He said, "The nine thorough investigations conducted since the end of February involved up to 6,000 samples," and added, "Even the telephone costs alone amount to tens of millions of won, and such surveys were conducted multiple times," calling it "an issue that needs to be clarified."
