Naver Webtoon Partners with Duolingo for Content Collaboration... Expanding Influence in North America

Exclusive Duolingo Webtoon Released on English Platform

Webtoon Entertainment, the parent company of Naver Webtoon, announced on the 16th that it has formed a partnership with the mobile learning platform Duolingo.

Together with Duolingo, Naver Webtoon will release an exclusive webtoon series titled "Duo Unleashed!" featuring Duolingo's owl mascot 'Duo' and his new adventures and journeys on WEBTOON, Naver Webtoon's English service, over a total of five episodes.

Webtoon Entertainment, the parent company of Naver Webtoon, has formed a partnership with the mobile learning platform Duolingo.

Duolingo is a mobile learning platform with 103.6 million monthly active users (MAU) worldwide. It records the highest revenue in the education category of major app markets. George Audi, Vice President of Business Development and Partnerships at Duolingo, said, "Duolingo was looking for opportunities to provide fans with new experiences and engage with more users," adding, "Naver Webtoon is the ideal partner to perfectly fulfill that role."

Shin Ok Lee, Head of Naver Webtoon's North American service, stated, "We hope that creative and curiosity-provoking stories will be more actively introduced on the webtoon platform," and added, "The collaboration with Duolingo will be an important stepping stone to realizing these expectations."

Naver Webtoon and Duolingo will jointly operate a booth at New York Comic Con (NYCC), held from the 17th to the 20th, to promote this collaboration. New York Comic Con is the world's largest entertainment expo, with approximately 200,000 attendees. Naver Webtoon will engage directly with fans through various programs such as fan meetings with the Duo mascot and limited-edition merchandise giveaways.

Additionally, through events such as local creator autograph sessions and panel participation in the U.S., they plan to communicate with the American comic industry and creators, expanding interaction with users. Notably, six works from Naver Webtoon, including "Lore Olympus" and "Unordinary," have been nominated for the Harvey Awards' "Digital Book of the Year" category, raising expectations. The Harvey Awards ceremony will be held on the last day of New York Comic Con.
