Smart Manufacturing Innovation Promotion Team Hosts Korea-Germany Smart Manufacturing Innovation Exchange and Cooperation Forum

Seminar on Korea-Germany Smart Manufacturing Innovation Exchange and Cooperation Held on the 15th
"Expectations for Domestic Companies' Global Expansion and Environmental Regulation Response"

To strengthen exchange and cooperation in smart manufacturing innovation between Korea and Germany, the 'Korea-Germany Smart Manufacturing Innovation Exchange and Cooperation Seminar' was held on the 15th at The-K Hotel in Seoul, attended by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, among others.

This seminar was held as one of the main events during the visit of a German delegation consisting of 18 members from German organizations including the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), the German Embassy, International Manufacturing X Association (IMX), Labs Network Industry 4.0 (LNI4.0), and the German Mechanical Engineering Industry Association (VDMA).


An Kwang-hyun, head of the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Promotion Team under the Korea Technology and Information Promotion Agency for SMEs (TIPA), stated, "This seminar was held with the purpose of strengthening exchange and cooperation between the two countries by sharing policies related to smart manufacturing innovation and the current status of data ecosystems."


During the seminar, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Promotion Team shared their recently announced ▲ smart manufacturing innovation ecosystem plans and ▲ manufacturing data standardization progress with the German side. Markus Hess, director at BMWK, shared ▲ the policy scope and goals regarding the German data ecosystem, facilitating communication on policies between the two countries.


Additionally, practical discussions were held to share and discuss plans for producing a white paper to promote Korea-Germany cooperation activities as a follow-up to the MOU between the Promotion Team and LNI4.0, the IMX international conference, joint forums, and more. Further agenda items included presentations on excellent cooperation cases between Korea and Germany and plans to expand business cooperation.


The Promotion Team plans to continue strengthening global exchange and cooperation by attending the IMX international conference in the United States next month and holding a joint forum next year.


An Kwang-hyun said, "Through this exchange and cooperation seminar, we expect to share smart manufacturing innovation policies and progress between the two countries, supporting domestic companies' global expansion and smooth responses to environmental regulations."
