Station Location Changed from Guryong Intersection to Deogeun District
Early Construction of Daejang Hongdae Line within This Year... 27 Minutes from Bucheon to Hongdae Entrance

The location of the station in the Goyang City section of the Daejang~Hongdae Metropolitan Railroad Private Investment Project has been finalized within the Deogeun District.
Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 16th that through continuous requests and proactive administration from the early stages of the project to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the project implementer, the station location was changed from the originally planned Guryong Intersection to within the Deogeun District.
On June 18th, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the project implementer, Seobu Metropolitan Metro Co., Ltd., planned the location of the 108th station within the Deogeun District and signed the metropolitan railroad private investment project implementation agreement.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is currently consulting with related organizations including Goyang City on the project implementation plan, which includes the station within the Deogeun District, and Goyang City is collecting opinions from landowners affected by the project recognition (implementation plan). The opinion collection period is until the 30th of this month.
The Daejang~Hongdae Line will operate 20 km from Bucheon Daejang District to Goyang Deogeun District and Seoul Hongdae Entrance Station, taking a total of 27 minutes. Transfer stations include four locations: Wonjong Station (Seohae Line), Hwagok Station (Line 5), Gayang Station (Line 9), and Hongdae Entrance Station (Line 2, Airport Railroad, Gyeongui-Jungang Line).
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to advance the approval of the implementation plan and the start of construction, originally scheduled for March next year, to the end of this year. Typically, it takes more than seven years from the preliminary feasibility study to the start of construction, but the Daejang~Hongdae Line has been promoted in just three and a half years from the private investment eligibility study in February 2021 to the signing of the implementation agreement. This is the fastest progress among recently promoted private railroad projects.
Lee Dong-hwan, Mayor of Goyang City, stated, “With the confirmation of the metropolitan railroad station within the Deogeun District and the plan for early construction, the convenience for Goyang citizens using rail transportation will be greatly improved. Additionally, it is expected to shorten commuting times in the metropolitan area and improve traffic congestion in the western metropolitan region. We will also continue to improve the connected transportation environment to enhance accessibility to rail use in preparation for the future opening.”
