President Yoon Sends Another Letter to Vietnam Party Secretary General Rum... Invites Early Visit to Korea Jang Ho-jin, the presidential special envoy for foreign affairs and security visiting Vietnam on behalf of President Yoon Suk-yeol, paid a courtesy call on Vo Van Thuong, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and State President, on the 15th (local time) to deliver a personal letter from President Yoon.

President Yoon Suk-yeol conveyed his intention to invite Mr. L??ng Vietnam Party Secretary General and State President to visit Korea early, the Blue House announced on the 15th.


Special Advisor for Foreign Affairs and Security Jang Ho-jin visited Vietnam that day as a special envoy of President Yoon and paid a courtesy call on Party Secretary General L??ng.


During the visit, Special Advisor Jang conveyed South Korea's intention to continue expanding the comprehensive strategic partnership with Vietnam in a multi-layered, reciprocal, and practical manner, and delivered a letter from President Yoon inviting Party Secretary General L??ng to visit Korea early.


Party Secretary General L??ng expressed gratitude for President Yoon’s vision for the development of bilateral relations, conveyed again through the special envoy dispatch and the letter, following their first phone call since L??ng’s inauguration as Party Secretary General in September. He also said he would gladly accept President Yoon’s invitation to visit Korea.


Both sides agreed that strengthening political trust based on active high-level exchanges is the foundation for developing the comprehensive strategic partnership.


Furthermore, they agreed to actively promote mutual visits at the summit level on various occasions, including the P4G (Partnership for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030) Summit to be held in Vietnam next year and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Gyeongju.


Based on solid political trust, both sides decided to strengthen strategic cooperation in the economic sector and to deepen collaboration in advanced and future industries, science and technology, critical mineral supply chains, transportation, and energy infrastructure.


In the defense and security sectors, they agreed to develop cooperation to enhance Vietnam’s law enforcement capabilities and defense industry cooperation, and to closely cooperate for the denuclearization, peace, and stability of the Korean Peninsula, as well as the establishment of a desirable rules-based order in the Indo-Pacific region.


The Blue House added that Special Advisor Jang also held separate meetings with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and Party External Relations Committee Chairman Le Hai Trung, exchanging views on cooperation measures.
