A video showing a drunken woman indiscriminately assaulting a delivery worker in the middle of a road in China has been released, sparking public outrage.

On the 14th, Hong Kong media outlet South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported, "On the 8th (local time), an incident occurred on the streets of Chongqing, China, where a 42-year-old intoxicated woman assaulted a 21-year-old delivery worker."

According to the media, the perpetrator was riding as a passenger on the back seat of an electric bicycle driven by a friend while intoxicated on the day of the incident. The delivery worker, witnessing the woman dangerously operating the bicycle, approached her to point out the behavior and remind her of road safety rules. Angered by his remarks, the woman dragged the delivery worker to the ground and assaulted him.

The video captures the delivery worker crying out, unable to resist, "Do delivery workers have no human rights? Do you think it's okay to hit us?" The injured delivery worker was transported to a hospital for treatment, but the extent of the injuries has not been disclosed. The perpetrator was detained by the police in Chongqing, southwestern China, on charges of assaulting the delivery worker.

The victimized delivery worker said, "It was my first time starting delivery work that day, but I suffered physical and psychological trauma due to the assault by the woman." He added, "She kicked my body and head. I did not fight back. I still feel dizzy because of the assault."

The video rapidly spread across Chinese online platforms. Local netizens who viewed the footage expressed sorrow, saying, "It is heartbreaking to see that he could not fight back," and "A distressing and sad situation." Some comments expressed anger, stating, "Punish the woman severely," "Why hit someone who was giving advice?" and "She should be hit back equally."
