A total of 37,000 bait vaccines for rabies prevention, transmitted through wild animals around major mountains and rivers in Seoul, will be distributed.

The bait vaccines will be distributed in a barrier belt form along the boundary of Seoul at intervals of 50 to 100 meters, with 15 to 20 units per point over a total distance of 157 km. The main distribution points are near areas inhabited by wild animals such as Bukhansan, Dobongsan, Suraksan, Bulamsan, Gwanaksan, Yongmasan, and Umyeonsan.

Citizens should not touch the bait vaccines if they find them during mountain hiking. If touched by humans, the scent may transfer, causing wild animals to avoid eating them. The bait vaccines are square-shaped and about 2 to 3 cm in size, and banners and warning signs will be posted at distribution points.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government explained that even if pets eat the bait vaccines, it is not dangerous. However, to obtain accurate rabies prevention effects for pets such as dogs and cats, they should receive preventive vaccines for pets at animal hospitals.

Lee Su-yeon, Director of the Garden City Bureau of Seoul, said, "Through the distribution of bait vaccines, we will prevent zoonotic rabies from the wild animal stage and protect the safety of citizens and pets," and added, "We ask that you avoid contact with wild animals during autumn hiking or walks."
