In September, a Bowl of Bibimbap in Seoul Surpasses 11,000 Won

Last month, the average price of a bowl of bibimbap in Seoul surpassed 11,000 won.

According to the Korea Consumer Agency's price information portal "Chamgagyeok" on the 13th, among the eight popular dining-out menu items in Seoul, the price of bibimbap rose 0.7% (76 won) from 10,962 won in August to 11,038 won last month.

Bibimbap has been steadily increasing since it first exceeded 10,000 won in January last year. This is attributed to the recent rise in vegetable prices.

Samgyetang increased by 1.4% (231 won) from 17,038 won in August to 17,269 won last month. Since entering the 15,000 won range in July 2022, samgyetang's price rose from the 16,000 won range in January last year to the 17,000 won range last month.

On the other hand, gimbap decreased by 0.7% (23 won) from 3,485 won to 3,462 won, maintaining the same price as in June and July.

The prices of the remaining five items did not change. Last month, jajangmyeon was 7,308 won, kalguksu was 9,308 won, naengmyeon was 11,923 won, one serving (200g) of samgyeopsal was 20,083 won, and kimchi jjigae set meal was 8,192 won, all maintaining the same prices as the previous month.

The prices disclosed on Chamgagyeok are average prices, so the dining-out inflation felt by consumers is likely higher. At popular restaurants, the price of a bowl of samgyetang exceeded 20,000 won, and a bowl of naengmyeon surpassed 15,000 won.

Regarding personal service fees in the Seoul area last month, the cost of a haircut remained the same at 12,462 won, while the bathing fee rose 0.7% (76 won) from 10,462 won to 10,538 won.
