Arguing on the Phone, Taking a Hunggi and Leaving, 112 Report Filed

A commotion occurred when the police were dispatched after a 112 emergency call reported that one YouTuber went outside with a weapon during a phone argument among YouTubers.

According to Yonhap News on the 13th, citing the police, YouTubers A and B had previous conflicts involving arguments. It was reported that they exchanged insults over the phone again on that day.

It was understood that A, who was arguing with B that day, went outside carrying a weapon, prompting a report from a cohabitant.

The police who responded to the call found A near his residence in Goyang City. A reportedly left the weapon in his car and was smoking a cigarette when he saw the officers, and he identified himself first.

Details and recordings related to this incident were later revealed through several YouTube broadcasts, sparking controversy. The YouTubers involved are known to have fewer than 10,000 subscribers.

A police official told Yonhap News, "Although A took a weapon saying he was going to find B, they did not know each other's addresses or whereabouts," adding, "Further investigation is needed to clarify the specific circumstances of the incident and the direction of future handling."

Meanwhile, controversies involving YouTubers and related incidents have been ongoing recently. Last month, a YouTuber was caught blocking an innocent citizen’s path and climbing onto the hood of a car, claiming suspicion of drunk driving, which caused public uproar. Two young men estimated to be in their 20s blocked the car of a couple in their 40s who were trying to go home, alleging drunk driving and reporting it to the police. During this, they filmed the couple with their smartphones and made peace signs. When the two men refused to move and obstructed traffic, the couple tried to back up their car. Then one of the group approached the reversing vehicle and even hung onto the hood.

In May, there was also an incident near a court in Busan where a YouTuber in his 50s stabbed and killed another YouTuber with a weapon. The victim’s screams and the attack were broadcast live on the victim’s YouTube channel. The two had been insulting and fighting each other on their respective YouTube channels for some time, and the victim anticipated the attack that day. Although the incident was streamed live on YouTube, no action was taken.
