Gyeonggi-do, 'Share Your Own Kimchi' Event Using Ilsan Yeolmu

Gyeonggi-do, 'Share Your Own Kimchi' Event Using Ilsan Yeolmu Gyeonggi Province held the "Share Your Own Kimchi" event for two days on the 12th and 13th in Goyang.

Gyeonggi Province held the "Tell Me My Own Kimchi · Ilsan Yeolmu Kimchi Festa" event for two days from the 12th to the 13th to expand the base of traditional food culture and promote the consumption of local agricultural products, using "Ilsan Yeolmu" as the main ingredient.

This event was planned to discover distinctive kimchi by linking regional events held in cities and counties with kimchi-making competitions, and to promote local agricultural products. It was held for the fifth time in Goyang.

A kimchi competition was held at Ilsan Lake Park in Goyang, focusing on Ilsan Yeolmu, one of Goyang City's agricultural and specialty products. After a preliminary document screening, a total of eight teams made it to the final judging.

In addition to the competition, a Yeolmu Kimchi Making Academy was prepared with Master Lee Ha-yeon, Korea Food Master No. 58. To prepare for possible disruptions in the supply of ingredients such as radish and cabbage due to climate change, various kimchi using different ingredients were introduced, and participants had a time of exchange by making and tasting kimchi themselves.

Moreover, various programs were prepared, including a delicious kimchi-making experience using Ilsan Yeolmu, rice cake cake making using Yeolmu, and a promotional exhibition for agricultural specialty products.

Bae So-young, Director of the Agricultural Food Distribution Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, "Through this event, we hope to develop various kimchi using local specialties to promote the diversity of kimchi and provide an opportunity to enrich the dining tables of residents in this era of high prices." She added, "In the future, the award-winning works from the Tell Me My Own Kimchi event will be commercialized and introduced to the residents."
