Yangju City conducted a "special health examination" over two days, on the 10th and 11th, for city-employed field workers exposed to various harmful factors such as chemicals, dust, and noise. Yangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kang Su-hyun) announced on the 12th that it conducted a 'Special Health Examination' over two days on the 10th and 11th for 250 on-site workers affiliated with the city who are exposed to various harmful factors such as chemical substances, dust, and noise.
The 'Special Health Examination' is a legal obligation for employers under the Occupational Safety and Health Act to be conducted for workers engaged in tasks exposed to harmful factors that may cause occupational diseases, aiming for early detection and prevention of occupational illnesses.
Since the beginning of the year, the city identified harmful exposure processes through workplace inspections and work environment measurements, confirming approximately 250 workers as examination subjects. These workers mainly include those engaged in forestry, parks, environmental management, road maintenance, and cooking-related on-site tasks.
The examination was conducted by the Korea Industrial Health Association, a special health examination institution designated by the Ministry of Employment and Labor. The test items included, depending on the harmful factors, △body measurements △blood tests △urinalysis △lung capacity tests △chest X-rays, and consultations with doctors.
Based on the examination results, additional health consultations, follow-up observations, and work environment improvements will be referenced for worker health management.
A city official stated, “Through the Special Health Examination, we will do our best to protect workers' health by focusing on follow-up management and improving the work environment to manage and promote the health of workers exposed to harmful factors.”
