Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 11th that it will hold the reading club event "Neighborhood Book Day" at the Pocheon City Hall Citizen Square on the 19th.
"Neighborhood Book Day" is an event first held in 2022, planned to create a communication space among reading club members and to spread reading culture.
The event will be divided into two parts. In the first part, there will be a commemorative ceremony for the publication of the reading club anthology in which members can directly participate and enjoy, and a keynote lecture by poet Park Jun titled "Reading Won't Change Anything." In the second part, a book concert by Harim, a musician and author of "We All Work for the People We Love," is prepared.
Additionally, various experiential and side events such as calligraphy, bookmark making, caricatures, book exhibitions, and photo zones will be available.
Anyone interested in reading clubs can apply to participate in Neighborhood Book Day through a Naver form.
Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon said, "Reading club activities, which share and communicate thoughts and emotions through books, are a great foundation for the development of Pocheon as a city of humanities," adding, "I hope this event will be an opportunity to further spread the culture of reading together."
