Enhancing Agricultural Understanding through Root Observation Awards and Hydroponic Cultivation System Exhibitions
Paju Mayor Kim Kyung-il is touring the site where the "3rd Paju Urban Agriculture Expo" is being held. The "3rd Paju City Urban Agriculture Expo," held to promote productive leisure activities for city residents and the value of urban agriculture through the creation of spaces where urban and rural areas coexist, concluded successfully.
According to Paju City in Gyeonggi Province on the 11th, the Urban Agriculture Expo, held for three days from the 4th at Unjeong Health Park, exhibited various crops rarely seen in urban areas such as cotton, jujube trees, figs, melons, and guava. The expo also operated an urban agriculture model exhibition hall to help city residents easily access and understand agriculture.
In particular, the urban agriculture model exhibition hall featured a root observation box that allows visitors to look at roots, a hydroponic cultivation system, and wall greening plants, sparking the curiosity of children.
Additionally, the "1st Urban Agriculture Manager Works Exhibition," showcasing the hidden talents of urban agriculture managers trained by the city, and a youth urban agriculture contest garden created by students from four local middle and high schools delighted visitors.
According to a satisfaction survey conducted on-site at the Urban Agriculture Expo, 89% of respondents were satisfied with the experience and exhibition programs, 87% reported an increased understanding of urban agriculture through the expo, 91% found the expo enjoyable, 76% were satisfied with prior publicity, and 95% rated the facility safety highly, indicating overall high satisfaction.
Kim Kyung-il, Mayor of Paju City, said, "Through the precious experience of nurturing life sprouts and cultivating gardens in the city, families and neighbors grow closer, and Paju City, a mixed urban-rural city, will work together to revitalize urban agriculture where people grow and learn with nature."
