On the 100th Day of Inauguration, "I Will Listen Carefully to the Vivid Voices from the Field and Observe Closely"
Im Jong-hoon, Chairman of Pocheon City Council. "Over the past 100 days, we have focused on listening closely to the voices of citizens, staying close to them, and seeking practical ways to improve their lives."
On the 11th, Lim Jong-hoon, Chairman of the Pocheon City Council, marking his 100th day in office, stated, "We prioritize listening to citizens' voices and turning them into policies, attentively hearing the vivid voices from the field and carefully observing."
Lim, who took office as the 6th Pocheon City Council's second-term chairman last July, reflected on the past 100 days and expressed his determination to devote himself to legislative activities aimed at citizens' happiness and Pocheon's leap forward.
Recently, Lim has been visiting sites and continuing communication efforts to address residents' grievances and establish coexistence measures. He has shown swift action by holding five consecutive meetings on current issues, including a roundtable with residents of the Hantangang Dam submerged area and a meeting with the Gujeolcho-ro Merchants' Association.
He visited flood damage sites caused by heavy rains last summer to inspect disaster-prone areas and disaster prevention facilities. Amid the resurgence of COVID-19, he checked the response system for infectious disease prevention and discussed specific measures to prevent infections among students before the new school term, striving to prioritize citizens' health and safety.
Through five meetings, including those with residents of the Hantangang Dam submerged area, the Gujeolcho-ro Merchants' Association, and various issue-related roundtables, he listened to residents' opinions. He also participated in numerous cultural and artistic events, sports competitions, and forums held throughout the region, communicating on-site with citizens from diverse backgrounds.
Chairman Lim has also been faithful in representing the voices of citizens.
First, in July, he issued a statement strongly urging specific measures regarding ongoing damage caused by soil runoff at the Rodriguez firing range of the US military in Yeongjung-myeon. To protect the rights and improve the living environment of residents affected by military noise, he submitted a proposal to amend the 'Military Noise Compensation Act' to the Gyeonggi Province City and County Council Chairpersons' Association, which was actively agreed upon and adopted by the chairpersons of city and county councils in Gyeonggi Province. He also proposed expanding the application of special admissions for rural and fishing villages to address educational disparities between regions.
Additionally, while faithfully performing the council's original role by jointly creating policies for regional development and monitoring the executive branch, he deeply reviewed and approved 25 ordinances closely related to citizens' lives, nine various consent items, and the 2024 second supplementary budget proposal.
Lim Jong-hoon emphasized, "For Pocheon City to make a progressive leap forward, the wisdom of cooperation is necessary," adding, "I will do my best to communicate more closely with citizens and ensure the council meets the expectations of all citizens."
