Han Moon-hee, President of Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL), stated that he is considering raising the penalty fees for No Show (reservation no-shows) tickets.
At the National Assembly Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee’s audit held at the Daejeon KORAIL headquarters on the 11th, in response to a No Show inquiry by Yoon Jong-gun of the Democratic Party of Korea, Han said that the penalty fee issue is "a considerable inconvenience for passengers, so we are reviewing measures to increase the fees and to differentiate weekends and holidays more distinctly."
President Han said, "We crack down on fare evasion and hand offenders over to the railroad police, but since it is a minor offense, the fines are low. I think this aspect needs to be reviewed."
Regarding the installation of intelligent CCTV systems to prevent fatal accidents, President Han explained, "We plan to introduce them not only to prevent harm to the general public but also to systems such as rockfall detection, and we will continue to expand these installations."
