Special Joint Performance Marks the Start of the 75th Anniversary of Korea-Philippines Diplomatic Relations
On the 11th, the city of Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held a spectacular opening ceremony for the 19th Cultural Diversity Festival MAMF at the Grand Theater of Seongsan Art Hall.
The opening ceremony was attended by Changwon Special City Mayor Hong Nam-pyo, Gyeongsangnam-do Governor Park Wansu, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Cultural Policy Director Lee Haedon, Philippine Commission on Overseas Filipinos Secretary Romulo V. Arugay, Philippine Ambassador to Korea Maria Teresa, provincial and city council members, as well as about 1,500 local and foreign residents.
In his congratulatory speech, Mayor Hong stated, "The mutual respect and multicultural sensitivity fostered through this cultural festival have become the driving force for Changwon City as it moves toward becoming the central city of Northeast Asia," and added, "We will spare no effort and support to create a society where local and foreign residents live together in harmony."
The collaborative performance by the Korean Little Angels Art Troupe and the Philippine Bayanihan National Dance Company that followed presented a meaningful stage showcasing the excellence and depth of both countries' traditional culture and arts, receiving great applause from the citizens.
On the first day of MAMF on the 11th, at 6:30 p.m. on the main stage at Yongji Culture Park, a celebratory performance by invited singer Insooni and the multicultural boys and girls choir 'Modu' is scheduled, along with a drone show featuring over 300 drones symbolizing cultural diversity lighting up the night sky.
Meanwhile, the Korea-Philippines special performance can be seen again at 2 p.m. on the 12th at the Grand Auditorium of Seongsan Art Hall. On the second and third days of MAMF, visitors can experience very special content such as ▲Migrants Arirang (cultural performances from various countries on 15 different stages) ▲Street Parade (traditional culture presented by 21 countries), and more.
