"Wrote 'Come Find Me'... Women Who Ate the Cake Like It Was Theirs and Disappeared"

Footage of women who took and ate bread accidentally left behind by someone at an unmanned cafe in Incheon has sparked controversy.

On the 8th, JTBC's 'Sageon Banjang' introduced the story of informant A, who operates an unmanned cafe in Seo-gu, Incheon. On August 8th, while cleaning inside the cafe, A discovered a paper bag left behind by someone. The paper bag contained various types of bread. Seeing this, A attached a note on the bread bag that read, "I really resisted the urge to eat. Please take it quickly," and waited for the owner to come and claim it.

The next day, two female customers who visited the cafe approached the lost item placed on the table. The women looked at the note and then started rummaging through the bag containing the bread. They soon took out an almond pound cake from a box, unwrapped it, and began eating it along with the drinks they had ordered. After eating about half of the cake, they tidied it up and placed it back on the table where the lost item was before leaving.

The closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage released by the informant captured this entire scene. The problem is that these two were not the customers who originally left the bread. They secretly ate someone else's property without the owner's knowledge. The informant said, "They might have mistaken it for bread provided as a service after reading the note," but added, "I am upset because these troublesome customers ate the lost items and even left traces behind."

Netizens who saw the video criticized the women's behavior with comments such as, "They are so bold, isn't that bread theirs?" "It was so natural that I was speechless," "Not only theft but also leaving it as is without cleaning up shows their character," and "At least clean up properly before leaving."

On the other hand, some expressed the opinion that the note left by A could have caused misunderstanding. They commented, "The owner who left such an ambiguous note is also at fault. It should have said to come and claim the lost item," "The phrase 'Please take it quickly' without a subject could make people think it's a service," and "Did they report this without properly verifying whether it was a misunderstanding or not?"
