Asan City to Develop Residential Complex on Former Kyungshin Electric Factory Site

Plans for 1,419 Apartment Units, Sports Park, and Swimming Pool

Asan City to Develop Residential Complex on Former Kyungshin Electric Factory Site Asan City, Chungnam Province, has initiated the development of a residential complex with 1,419 households on the site of the former Kyungshin Electric Wire Factory located in Deokji-ri, Eumbong-myeon. Deokji 2 District Unit Planning Concept (Draft)

The city of Asan, Chungnam Province, is set to begin development of a residential complex with 1,419 units on the site of the former Kyungshin Electric Wire factory in Deokji-ri, Eumbong-myeon.

According to the city, the area around 463-5 Deokji-ri, Eumbong-myeon, which is the site of the former Kyungshin Electric Wire factory, has faced high demand for apartment development since the factory relocated in 2012. The project developer has submitted plans to the city for a residential complex comprising land for 1,419 apartment units, neighborhood living facilities, and essential infrastructure such as roads, a sports park, and parking lots.

In particular, the sports park will feature a 25-meter, 6-lane swimming pool, a Jokgu court, and a park parking lot. Additionally, one off-street parking lot will be established within the district for residents' convenience, and another off-street parking lot is planned near the Eumbong Eoulsaem Library to improve parking in the area.

Furthermore, a green space 10 to 30 meters wide will be created between the project site and The Sharp Lakeside Phase 1 and The Sharp Lake City Phase 2 apartments, providing a shared area for residents and connecting the green axis between the sports park and Wollang Reservoir.

Asan City began consultations with relevant agencies (departments) in October this year and plans to proceed with collecting residents' and council members' opinions, conducting a strategic environmental impact assessment, and reviewing the plan through the Urban Architecture Joint Committee before making a final decision on the district unit plan.

A city official stated, "Although there were concerns about preserving forest land within the project site, we decided to initiate a residential-type district unit plan (modification) in consideration of systematic urban development and the expectations of Deokji-ri residents for local development. In particular, through consultation with the project developer, we will proceed with the construction of a swimming pool, which has been a long-standing wish of Eumbong-myeon residents. We expect this project to greatly contribute to improving the residential environment in the Deokji-ri area."
