Workshop Held for 71 New Vice Principals
Enhancing Understanding of Future and Busan Education Policies
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will hold the ‘2024 Second Semester New Vice Principal Leadership Workshop’ for two days on the 14th and 15th in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk and other locations, targeting 71 newly appointed vice principals from elementary, middle, high, and special schools.
This workshop aims to enhance participants' understanding of the future direction of school management and Busan’s education policies, and to develop the ability to lead the school field with leadership based on communication and empathy.
On the first day of the workshop, participants will experience the ecological and cultural sites of the Gyeongju area, followed by sessions exploring ways to strengthen future-oriented education and leadership based on communication and empathy.
They will also attend special lectures on major Busan education policies such as the Busan-style academic achievement improvement program ‘Hakryeok Change (Chein-Ji)’, and listen to a keynote speech by Lee Changsoo, vice principal of Samcheok Seobu Elementary School, on ‘The Role of Vice Principals in Transforming Conflicts in the Era of Civil Complaints’.
On the second day, Professor Kim Younghun of Yonsei University will give a lecture on ‘Attitude Toward Effort and Talent’. There will also be group discussions among participants on ways to prevent infringements on educational activities and to handle related incidents.
Ha Yunsoo, Superintendent of the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, “The role of vice principals with leadership based on communication and empathy has become more important than ever in today’s rapidly changing school environment,” and added, “I hope this workshop will help vice principals strengthen their capabilities so that all members of the school community can grow together and create a happy school culture.”
