Strengthening Autonomous Safety Management Capabilities and Supporting Consulting for Building Safe Workplaces
Supporting ESG Management for Partner Companies ... Pursuing Sustainable Mutual Growth
S-OIL recently announced that, as a result of its 'Safety and Health Management System Establishment Consulting' support for its partner companies, all 10 participating partners have obtained KOSHA-MS certification.
On the 11th, a KOSHA-MS certification ceremony was held at the S-OIL Ulsan plant, attended by Gong Heungdu, Head of the Busan Regional Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, S-OIL CSO Hong Seungpyo, and representatives of partner companies.
The Safety and Health Management System (KOSHA-MS) is a system developed by the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency that integrates the requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Act and international standards, and reflects the recommendations of the International Labour Organization. It rigorously evaluates and certifies workplaces that meet mandatory safety and health requirements.
S-OIL became the first refiner to obtain KOSHA-MS certification in 2023, and has been continuously supporting its partners in obtaining KOSHA-MS certification as part of its mutual growth initiatives aimed at strengthening partners' autonomous safety management capabilities and building safer workplaces.
In particular, since the enforcement of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act in 2022, S-OIL has expanded its consulting support for partners by sharing safety know-how, manuals, and procedures; providing consulting in safety and procurement; and supporting consulting costs. As a result, a total of 33 partner companies have obtained KOSHA-MS certification. S-OIL also operates a dedicated organization for mutual growth to ensure that partner companies can continuously maintain their KOSHA-MS certification in the future.
Gong Heungdu, Head of the Busan Regional Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, commented on the certification, saying, "This is a model case in which S-OIL and its partners are spreading a culture of mutual cooperation and enabling partners to establish their own self-regulatory prevention systems, thereby creating a social atmosphere where large companies fulfill their safety and health responsibilities."
Hong Seungpyo, S-OIL CSO (Chief Safety Officer), who received a plaque of appreciation from the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency as a model case of mutual growth, stated, "S-OIL is working together with its partners to achieve a world-class safety culture, and we will continue to pursue a mutually beneficial relationship with our partners to create a safe working environment."
