Won Universe announced on the 11th that it has secured the global service rights for the game ‘SHAMAN KING Hunbari Chronicle,’ based on SHAMAN KING, originally created by the famous Japanese publisher Kodansha.
Through this contract, Won Universe will be responsible for the localization development and global service operation of SHAMAN KING Hunbari Chronicle. The global service development will be overseen by Won Universe’s Chief Product Officer (CPO), Kim Do-kyung, who will serve as the general director.
SHAMAN KING Hunbari Chronicle is a mobile role-playing game (RPG) based on the popular comic intellectual property (IP) ‘Shaman King.’ Players can collect shaman characters with unique personalities within the game, grow them through battles, and enjoy competition with other users. Leveraging the original work’s worldwide popularity, the game is expected to successfully meet the needs of the global fanbase and continue its successful service.
Shaman King, created by Hiroyuki Takei, is a popular comic series with cumulative sales of 38 million copies. It was also adapted into an animation broadcast on ‘TV Tokyo’ starting in April 2021. The story revolves around shamans with various spiritual abilities competing in a world-scale battle to become the ‘Shaman King.’
Kim Do-kyung, CPO of Won Universe, said, "We are very pleased to introduce the Shaman King IP to the global market through our collaboration with Kodansha. Through high-quality localization work that preserves the original’s sensibility and game improvements, we will provide the best gaming experience to fans worldwide."
The company added that the global service schedule and detailed information for SHAMAN KING Hunbari Chronicle will be announced later through an official statement.
