Domestic Nuclear Power Plant Sets New Record with 4,880 Days of Continuous Safe Operation
Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Hanul Nuclear Power Headquarters (Director Lee Seyong) announced, "Hanul Unit 3 (pressurized water reactor, 1 million kW class), which entered scheduled preventive maintenance on July 27, resumed power generation on October 6 and reached 100% output at 4:35 a.m. on the 11th."
Hanul Unit 3 became the first domestic nuclear power plant to achieve 10 consecutive cycles of OCTF, thereby proving the safety and excellent technological capability of its operation.
OCTF (One Cycle Trouble Free) means that the power plant operates stably without shutdown from the time of grid connection after completing scheduled preventive maintenance until the next grid separation for scheduled preventive maintenance.
During this scheduled preventive maintenance period, reliability of the power generation facilities was enhanced through reinforcement of attached anchors and comprehensive improvements to the turbine control and emergency shutdown systems, and statutory inspections in accordance with the Nuclear Safety Act were completed.
Hanul Unit 3 will continue to set the record for the longest continuous operation in Korea through safe nuclear power plant operation, and will transparently disclose all matters related to plant operation at all times.
