Mayor Bang Se-hwan of Gwangju City is receiving the Administrative Development Contribution Award at the 13 People Who Shined Korea this Year. Bang Se-hwan, mayor of Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi Province, received the Administrative Development Contribution Award at the ‘7th 13 People Who Shined Korea Awards’ ceremony held on the 10th.
Since taking office, Mayor Bang established the 'Youth Startup Support Center,' operating startup education and mentoring programs, and was recognized for increasing local startup companies and contributing to job creation, leading to his selection as the award recipient.
He also promoted policies for housing stability, such as expanding public rental housing for low-income groups and improving residential environments, and established the 'Comprehensive Housing Welfare Center' to provide citizens with housing-related counseling and support services.
In addition, he was acknowledged for his contributions through projects like the 'Urban Forest Creation Project,' which expanded green spaces in the city center and implemented measures to reduce fine dust.
Mayor Bang said, “Gwangju-si will do its best to leap forward as a central city of Korea and create a city where all citizens are happy,” adding, “We will communicate more with citizens and devise various policies for sustainable development.”
