The police have referred two individuals, including Jo Hyung-seop, former co-CEO of Donghaeng Lottery and spouse of Supreme Court Justice Lee Suk-yeon, back to the prosecution in connection with the incident where 200,000 lottery tickets were recalled due to a 'Speedo 1000' issuance error.
On the 10th, the Seoul Seocho Police Station announced that they had sent Jo, the former CEO, and Kim Se-jung, former CEO of Donghaeng Lottery, to the prosecution earlier this month on charges of violating the Lottery and Lottery Fund Act.
Jo and Kim are accused of using lottery information to recall 200,000 tickets suspected to be erroneous after the visual winning results did not match the sales system winning results for six tickets of the 58th Speedo 1000 lottery in September 2021.
The police viewed the use of winning lottery information and distribution data during the sorting and recall process of the erroneous tickets as a violation of the Lottery Act.
The police initially referred Jo and Kim to the prosecution on May 31, but the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office requested supplementary investigation, and they were referred again after four months.
