Pocheon City is holding the opening ceremony for the new lifelong learning village program and taking a commemorative photo. Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) held the opening ceremony for the new lifelong learning village program, taking the first step toward building a learning community.
On September 23, Pocheon City held opening ceremonies for learning villages in Masan 2-ri, Gasan-myeon, Yongjeong 1-ri, Gunnae-myeon, and on October 4 in Oga 2-ri, Changsu-myeon, as well as on October 9 in Seokhyang Learning Village, Songwoo 8-ri.
The lifelong learning village project was established to support residents in enjoying various learning opportunities within their nearby living areas.
The new lifelong learning villages support residents in independently managing their villages through programs reflecting each village's characteristics. Additionally, the project focuses on discovering local learning resources and activating learning networks by training learning coordinators and village leaders.
Each village plans to operate various resident-led programs and develop a lifelong learning village model unique to Pocheon City. Through this, it is expected to improve the quality of life for local residents and grow into a sustainable learning community.
A Pocheon City official stated, “Through this lifelong learning village project, we plan to continuously support providing learning opportunities to local residents and help lifelong learning villages develop into independent learning communities. We will also operate various lifelong learning programs to establish a foundation where residents can dream of a bright future.”
