Celebrating First Birthday Since Wedding Last August
Showing Unreserved Affection for Both Parents

Cho Kuk, leader of the Cho Kuk Innovation Party, revealed that his daughter, YouTuber Cho Min, received a surprise gift and event from her mother-in-law on her first birthday after marriage. On the 8th, Cho Min conducted a live consultation with subscribers on her YouTube channel. During the session, she recalled, "My mother-in-law cooked food for my birthday," and said, "The beef seaweed soup my mother-in-law made was so delicious. On the birthday morning, when I woke up and went to the kitchen, there was a bouquet of flowers. I thought, 'When did my husband get such a bouquet?' and prepared myself to be touched."

She continued, "There was a letter next to the bouquet, and when I opened it, it was from my mother-in-law," adding, "She wrote, 'Welcome to our family. Happy birthday.'" She went on to say, "When I wondered how my mother-in-law placed this on our kitchen table, I woke my husband up, and he said that his mother came to our house early in the morning and told him, 'Do not wake Min at all, put the flowers and letter on the table, and put the food in the refrigerator. Do not wake Min under any circumstances,' and then left."

Cho Min said, "If I had known my mother-in-law was coming, I would have definitely gone out to greet her, but I was very touched," adding, "It was my first birthday after marriage, and I was so surprised. It really felt like she considered me family." Finally, she shyly concluded with affection for both families, saying, "These days, I think I should be even better to both sets of parents," and "It sounds a bit like bragging as I talk, sorry." Netizens responded to the video with comments such as, "Congratulations to the mother-in-law for getting such a wise daughter-in-law," "If I were Cho Min's mother-in-law, I would do the same," and "She looks even prettier after marriage."

Meanwhile, regarding the allegation that Cho Kuk, leader of the Cho Kuk Innovation Party, made false statements about his daughter Cho Min's academic degree ahead of the April 10 general election, the prosecution decided not to indict Cho Kuk. On March 27, Cho Kuk stated at a foreign press conference held at the Seoul Press Center, "My daughter voluntarily returned her degree and medical license. It was a return, not a withdrawal." In response, Lee Jong-bae, a member of the Seoul Metropolitan Council from the People Power Party, reported Cho Kuk to the police for making false statements, and the case was transferred to the prosecution.

The prosecution heard Cho Kuk's position through a written investigation. Cho Kuk explained in his statement that the expression "returning the degree" meant accepting the cancellation of admission without contesting it. Cho Min's mother, former Dongyang University professor Jung Kyung-shim, was convicted in January 2022, and when Korea University and Pusan National University Medical School canceled Cho Min's admission, she filed an appeal. The court ruled in April last year that the cancellation of admission to Pusan National University Medical School was justified, and Cho Min withdrew all lawsuits.
