Dobong-gu (District Mayor Oh Eon-seok) local products were sold out at the LA Korean Festival.
The district announced that from September 26 to 29, at the LA Korean Festival, all products from Dobong-gu small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners were completely sold out.
At the buyer matching export consultation held locally on the 25th, they reported achieving $50,000 worth of order consultations and $10,000 in actual contracts.
The district sold 28,000 pairs of socks from the Dobong Socks Manufacturing Association and 540 eco-friendly clothing items from Greenware at the LA Korean Festival, generating approximately $40,000 in sales.
A district official explained, "It was crucial to organize products and target the local market based on consumer preferences and tastes confirmed through the 2023 LA Korean Festival sales performance."
Last year, the district participated in the LA Korean Festival for the first time. Under the name "Dobong-gu Overseas Market Development Team" (currently Dobong-gu Overseas Trade Delegation), Dobong-gu local products were introduced to overseas buyers for the first time.
The district currently operates the "Dobong-gu Overseas Trade Delegation" to pioneer overseas sales channels for local small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners. Participating companies receive support for booth rental fees, interpretation costs, and more.
This year, the Dobong-gu Overseas Trade Delegation achieved meaningful results beyond the sales success at the LA Korean Festival during their expedition from the 23rd to the 29th.
On the first day, the 23rd, they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for economic exchange and friendly cooperation with the City of Fullerton, USA. On this day, the two cities agreed to expand relations in administration, industry, civil sectors, culture, and arts based on enhanced understanding of each region's culture, and to strengthen economic cooperation.
A district official stated, "This agreement is expected to promote business opportunities and exchanges between companies in the two cities and significantly contribute to the economic development of both cities."
On the following day, the 24th, they visited the Orange County Korean Chamber of Commerce, holding a meeting with Chairman Jim Gu, Advisor No Sang-il, and other executives of the Orange County Korean Chamber of Commerce to engage in in-depth discussions on strategies for entering the U.S. market.
They specifically shared information about the characteristics of the U.S. market and local consumer trends and discussed concrete ways for Dobong-gu companies to gain competitiveness within the U.S.
On the 25th, they held a buyer-invited export consultation at the Anaheim Marriott Hotel, signing three export agreements. They also secured $50,000 worth of order consultations and $10,000 in actual contracts.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, "The district is making multifaceted efforts to open sales channels for local small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners. Dispatching the Overseas Trade Delegation is part of that effort," adding, "We will continue to support widely promoting the excellence of local products overseas and achieving even greater results."
