Gwangju City and the Gwangju Policy Research Association held the 8th Policy Forum on the 8th at the city hall's medium conference room, under the theme "Cultural Trends and Future Strategies in the Age of Artificial Intelligence (AI)."
About 100 people attended the forum, including Mayor Kang Ki-jung, Director Choi Chi-guk of the Gwangju Research Institute, public officials, and executives and employees of public institutions.
Professor Choi Yeon-gyu from Pukyong National University, who gave the lecture, presented on socio-cultural changes and policy directions in the AI era. Professor Choi emphasized, "In the future, 'ESC'?Education, Science, and Culture?will be important," adding, "Learning AI and developing technology belong to education and science, while effectively utilizing AI in daily life falls under the cultural domain." He particularly stated, "Change begins with technology but is completed by culture," and proposed, "For Gwangju to become an AI×Culture city, it must create citizens and a city that use AI the best in the world."
Meanwhile, the 'Policy Forum' is a policy public discussion platform co-hosted by Gwangju City and the Gwangju Policy Research Association (a research group involving 18 public institutions under Gwangju City) to discuss Gwangju's mid- to long-term vision and share policy research achievements by institution. It selects topics from various fields and is held once a month (on the first Wednesday).
