150 K-MOM TAXI Vehicles for Pregnant Women to Begin Full Operation from the 10th
Exclusive App Launched and Usage Restrictions Lifted to Enhance User Convenience
Gumi City in North Gyeongsang Province will launch the 'K-MOM TAXI' app, a dedicated transportation service for pregnant women, on October 10 to mark Pregnant Women's Day, officially beginning its operation.
This service is a practical support policy aimed at improving transportation convenience for pregnant women. It can be downloaded by searching for 'Gyeongbuk Pregnant Women Taxi', 'K-Mom Taxi', or 'Kei Mom Taxi' on both Android and iPhone versions.
The greatest advantage of K-Mom Taxi is that there is no need for vouchers or post-use verification procedures. Pregnant women only need to register once, after which they can easily call a taxi through the exclusive app and pay the discounted fare upon getting off.
Currently, 150 K-Mom Taxis are operating within Gumi City, the largest number in North Gyeongsang Province. The base fare is 1,100 KRW, and users can travel anywhere within the city at a low cost of up to 3,000 KRW. The service supports up to 10 one-way trips per month, and the number of supported trips may be increased in the future depending on usage trends.
The previous regulation, which allowed use only for hospital visits, has been relaxed, so now users can freely use the service for destinations other than hospitals.
Additionally, due to the delay in the originally scheduled launch in mid-September, the usage period, which was previously limited to one month after the expected delivery date, will be temporarily extended until the end of this year (December 31). This measure is intended to provide tangible convenience for pregnant women.
Pregnant women wishing to newly register can apply online through the 'Cheongnyeon Ekkkeullim' website or apply at their local public health center when registering as pregnant. Those who have already pre-registered via Cheongnyeon Ekkkeullim can use the app immediately after installation without any additional procedures.
To apply through Cheongnyeon Ekkkeullim: sign up (identity verification), log in, search for 'pregnant women' in the search bar, click 'Gumi City Pregnant Women Taxi Application (-MOM TAXI)', and then click 'Apply Now' at the bottom.
Gumi City plans to further develop the system so that both taxi requests and usage applications can be processed at once through the app in the future.
Mayor Kim Jangho said, "It is very meaningful to have established a dedicated transportation service for pregnant women," and added, "We will continue to do our best to develop policies that provide real help. I hope the happy smiles of pregnant women will ride along with the K-Mom Taxis traveling throughout Gumi City."
To ensure the successful introduction of K-Mom Taxi, Gumi City has thoroughly prepared by revising ordinances, requesting provincial funding support, providing training to 150 taxi operators, and conducting more than 10 rounds of internal testing.
