Tripped and Knocked Down Leading to Brain Death... Ultimately Passed Away
"If It Was a Fight, Fists Would Have Been Thrown"
Arrested on Charges of Injury Resulting in Death... Bereaved Family Demands Severe Punishment
A man in his 20s has been arrested and handed over to the prosecution on charges of causing the death of an apartment security guard by knocking him down, while the victim's family is demanding severe punishment.
On the 7th, JTBC's 'Sageon Banjang' reported on Mr. A, who caused the death of a security guard in his 60s. According to the report, a management office employee present at the scene stated, "They were having an argument, so I separated them for the time being, but Mr. A came back to the security guard and said, 'Be careful on the night road.'" Afterwards, Mr. A tripped Mr. B, causing him to fall to the ground, and Mr. B hit his head on a metal drainage grate, losing consciousness.
Mr. A told SBS on the 20th of last month, "A vehicle in front was unable to enter, causing a delay. The driver gestured to me to back up and raised his voice, so I asked, 'Why are you getting annoyed?'" He added, "The security guard also got angry and rushed at me. We hit and spat at each other, and a physical fight broke out." He continued, "Honestly, I just intended to knock him down and leave. If I had meant to fight, my fist would have come out first." He also said, "I have never once not regretted my actions. I deeply blame myself for ruining that person's life." However, the management office employee refuted this, saying, "I did not see Mr. B spit. There is a blacklist among the staff, and Mr. A is one of them. He reportedly looks down on employees because they are security guards or work in the management office." Currently, Mr. B's family is urging strict punishment, hoping that this incident will prevent anyone from looking down on others or abusing power.
Earlier, on the 10th of last month at around 3:05 p.m., Mr. A got into an argument with another car owner at the entrance of an officetel located in Bujeon-dong, Busanjin-gu, and knocked down security guard Mr. B, who was trying to intervene, leaving him in a brain-dead state. Mr. B ultimately passed away on the 19th of last month, nine days after the incident. CCTV footage from the scene showed that an unregistered vehicle was unable to enter the parking lot and was stopped, while Mr. A's vehicle entered behind it. Mr. A got out of his car and gestured aggressively at the driver of the vehicle in front, and about a minute later, Mr. B arrived at the scene and the incident occurred. Consequently, the Busanjin Police Station arrested Mr. A on the 26th of last month on charges of causing injury resulting in death and sent him to the prosecution.
