A man in his 40s walking in Jeju was electrocuted by a broken power line.

On the 8th, the Jeju Fire Safety Headquarters reported, "At around 5:46 PM the previous day, a report was received that a tourist, Mr. A (42), walking on a sidewalk in Hamo-ri, Daejeong-eup, Seogwipo-si, Jeju, was electrocuted."

It is known that Mr. A was electrocuted when a power line fell above his head while he was walking. At that time, a 220V general low-voltage line connected to a utility pole had its insulation stripped and broke, falling above Mr. A's head.

As a result of the accident, Mr. A suffered second-degree burns on his toes and complained of pain throughout his body. He was transported to a hospital for treatment.

The police are investigating the detailed circumstances of the incident with officials from Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) and others.

Meanwhile, a similar accident occurred recently involving electrocution while working on a utility pole. On the 15th of last month, Mr. B, in his 70s, was seriously injured after being electrocuted while working on a circuit breaker at a utility pole in Gaejin-myeon, Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province. Mr. B lost consciousness and was transported to a hospital.
