Divorced singles (returned singles) showed different reasons for wanting remarriage depending on their gender.

On the 7th, remarriage information company Only-U and marriage agency Bienarae announced the results of a survey conducted on 516 divorced singles hoping for remarriage (258 men and 258 women each) asking, "What is the most important thing you want to gain through remarriage?" The survey was conducted via email and phone from September 30 to October 5 among 516 divorced singles hoping for remarriage (258 men and 258 women each).

As a result, 29.5% of male respondents answered "increased vitality," followed by "economic supplementation" (25.6%), "enhanced stability" (22.8%), and "reduction of daily burdens" (15.5%). On the other hand, female respondents answered in the order of "economic supplementation" (35.3%), "enhanced stability" (25.2%), "increased vitality" (17.8%), and "improved status" (15.5%).

When asked, "What must be a prerequisite for remarriage to be better than living as a divorced single?" divorced singles showed differing answers. Among male respondents, 35.7% chose "intimacy," while 32.6% of female respondents selected "equal status" as their top priority. Both men and women chose "mutual trust" as the second reason (men 28.3%, women 29.0%). Following that, men's answers were "guarantee of independence" (21.3%) and "equal status" (14.7%), while women's answers were "intimacy" (23.3%) and "guarantee of independence" (15.1%).

Only-U explained, "Men pursue remarriage to break away from a dull life and seek a more lively and dynamic life, whereas women want a more economically stable and comfortable life." They added, "If women pursue remarriage to fulfill fundamental aspects of life, men pursue remarriage to improve their quality of life." They also advised, "A harmonious married life cannot be achieved by the effort or sacrifice of only one person. Just as you want to gain something through remarriage, your partner also has expectations, so both parties need to think and consider each other with empathy for positive effects of remarriage to emerge."

A Bienarae official added, "Regardless of age, men want warmth like a lover and comfort like a mother's embrace from their wives," and "Women who have directly experienced or witnessed their husbands' patriarchal attitudes believe that equality between spouses is the starting point of a harmonious married life."
