[Featured Stock] Peptron Surges 24% on Technology Agreement with US Eli Lilly

Peptron surged 24%. It appears to have been influenced by the news of signing a technology agreement with the global pharmaceutical company (Big Pharma) Eli Lilly.

As of 9:07 AM on the 8th, Peptron is trading at 60,700 KRW, up 24.77% (12,050 KRW) from the previous day. This is the first time Peptron's stock price has surpassed 60,000 KRW in about two months since August 14.

Peptron announced after the market closed the previous day that it had signed a "platform technology evaluation agreement" with Eli Lilly. The core of the agreement is to promote joint research applying Peptron’s "Smart Depot" technology to Eli Lilly’s peptide drugs. Smart Depot is a peptide long-acting platform that encapsulates drugs in biodegradable beads to release them at a consistent concentration. The two companies also agreed to operate a joint research committee involving research personnel.

Eli Lilly is a giant bio company ranked 11th in global market capitalization among listed companies worldwide (808 billion USD). It was the first company in the world to commercially produce insulin and holds a leading position in diabetes treatments, cancer therapies, cardiovascular disease treatments, and psychiatric disorder treatments. Peptron did not disclose the specific contract amount or individual target products with Eli Lilly.

Peptron’s stock price has risen significantly this year, as the possibility of technology export contracts with global pharmaceutical companies has been continuously highlighted. From around 20,000 KRW at the beginning of the year, it soared close to 90,000 KRW by the end of July. After falling below the 40,000 KRW level since September, Peptron is now soaring again, buoyed by the good news from Eli Lilly.
