In the men's golf weekly world rankings announced on the 6th (local time), he earned 0.21 points and jumped 314 places from 908th last week. He accumulated points by winning a come-from-behind victory at the KPGA Tour Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance Choi Kyung-ju Invitational (total prize money 1.25 billion KRW), which concluded the day before at Ferrum Club (par 72) in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province.
Lee Su-min added a victory trophy for the first time in 4 years and 3 months since winning the KPGA Open in April 2020. This is his 5th win on the KPGA Tour, with a prize money of 250 million KRW. He was once called a golf prodigy. He has been both the KPGA Tour Rookie of the Year and Money List winner. He enlisted in April 2021 and served as a social service agent, being discharged in October 2022.
Lee Su-min also showed a special connection with the Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance Choi Kyung-ju Invitational. This is his second win since the 2019 tournament. He was runner-up in this tournament in 2018 and tied for 16th last year. He said, "I quit smoking cigarettes that I had been smoking for four months. I went to bed early and reduced my phone usage. By living a proper lifestyle, which is fundamental for an athlete, my performance revived. I regained the confidence I had lost. I will improve my shot accuracy further and challenge the US stage next year."
Scottie Scheffler is 1st, Xander Schauffele (both USA) 2nd, Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) 3rd, Collin Morikawa (USA) 4th, and Ludvig Aberg (Sweden) held 5th place. Korea's Im Sung-jae is 22nd, Kim Joo-hyung 25th, An Byeong-hun 36th, and Kim Si-woo 54th. Kevin Yu (Taiwan), who won his first career victory at the PGA Tour Sanderson Farms Championship, jumped from 135th last week to 71st. Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance Choi Kyung-ju Invitational runner-up Jang Yu-bin rose 12 places to 160th.
