"Horyongsoo, President of GS Energy, Receives Spanish Order for Contributions to Culture and Arts Development"

Award Ceremony at the Embassy of Spain in Korea on the 7th

Yongsoo Heo, President of GS Energy, received a decoration from the King of Spain for his contributions to the development of culture and arts between Korea and Spain.

GS Energy announced on the 7th that President Heo received the "Order of Isabella the Catholic" awarded by King Felipe VI of Spain at the Spanish Embassy in Korea. The award ceremony was held at the Spanish Ambassador's residence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and was presented by Guillermo Kirkpatrick de la Vega, the Spanish Ambassador to Korea, on behalf of the King of Spain.

The Order of Isabella the Catholic is awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions or achieved outstanding results in the Spanish cultural sector. President Heo was selected as a recipient in recognition of his contributions to promoting cultural and artistic friendship between Korea and Spain through his support activities for the Prado Museum and the Reina Sof?a School of Music in Spain.

In addition to the cultural and artistic fields, the company explained that he has also contributed to the development of the energy industry between the two countries, such as signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for cooperation in renewable energy business with Iberdrola, Spain's largest power company, in 2021.

Guillermo Kirkpatrick, the Spanish Ambassador to Korea, said in his welcoming remarks, "On behalf of the Spanish government and the King, I deeply thank President Yongsoo Heo for his activities and efforts so far," adding, "Next year marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Spain, and I hope to further strengthen cultural exchanges through collaboration with the GS Cultural Foundation."

President Heo said, "It is a great personal honor to receive the meaningful Order of Isabella the Catholic," and added, "I will continue to strive for the development of culture and arts and the expansion of practical exchanges between the two countries."

President Heo is currently serving as the Chairman of the National Ballet Company, Chairman of the Development Support Committee of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, and Vice Chairman of the National Museum Association. In recognition of his active cultural support activities, he was awarded the Hwagwan Order of Cultural Merit in Korea in 2020.
