Gwangju City opened the newly renovated ‘Cheomdan Daesang Park Golf Course,’ harmonized with the ‘Gwangju Citizens' Forest’ in the Cheomdan district of Buk-gu, as a premium park golf course on the 7th.

With a city budget investment of 650 million KRW, the course was expanded from the existing 9 holes to 18 holes, doubling in size. The course consists of 9 holes on Course A and 9 holes on Course B, and is connected to the riverside walking trail, making it a park-friendly facility.

As park golf, known for its low cost and high efficiency exercise, gains popularity, the city is either newly establishing or expanding park golf courses to promote citizens' health and leisure. Currently, there are 9 locations with 153 holes operating in Gwangju, and an additional 54 holes are planned to be newly established.

The city plans to hold the ‘Gwangju Mayor’s Cup National Park Golf Tournament’ on the 23rd at Seobong Park Golf Course, with about 1,000 park golf enthusiasts participating.

Mayor Kang Ki-jung stated, “Park golf courses not only support citizens’ active lives but also achieve a twofold effect by reducing social costs related to health,” adding, “Gwangju City will continue to firmly support the health and leisure of senior citizens.”

Meanwhile, about 300 people attended the opening ceremony, including Mayor Kang, Seo Yong-gyu, Vice Chairman of the Gwangju City Council, Lee Yong-beom, President of the Gwangju Park Golf Association, Noh Yi-beom, President of the Dong-gu Park Golf Association, Kim Seung-jo, President of the Seo-gu Park Golf Association, Ahn Hwang-ho, President of the Nam-gu Park Golf Association, and Kim Seon-chae, President of the Buk-gu Park Golf Association.
