Ulsan Office of Education, 8,003 Participate in Superintendent's School Sports Club Competition

511 More Participants Than Last Year... Winning Teams in Each Event to Represent Ulsan at National School Sports Club Competition

The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Cheon Changsu) hosted the Ulsan Superintendent's School Sports Club Competition from May until the 6th of this month, with 8,003 students from 655 teams representing 179 elementary, middle, and high schools in the region participating in school sports club activities. This is an increase of 511 participants compared to the previous competition, which had 7,492 participants.

The competition featured 20 events in total, including 17 events from the National School Sports Club Festival such as netball, tee-ball, and dodgeball, as well as 3 events recommended by the Office of Education (foot volleyball, creative dance, and attack ball). Notably, this competition also served as the preliminary round for the National School Sports Club Festival.

The winning teams (63 teams from 48 schools, totaling 885 students) will represent Ulsan at the 17th National School Sports Club Festival, which will be held across the country from the 25th of this month to November 24.

The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education aimed to revitalize school sports by expanding opportunities for students' physical activities and promoting physical fitness through this competition. They also encouraged students to develop sound character and contribute to a school culture of collective growth through participation in the games.

A representative from the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education said, "We expect that this competition has greatly helped students improve their health, develop social skills, and relieve academic stress," adding, "Next year, we plan to expand support for the daily practice of physical activity among students by operating a variety of 'one student, one sport' programs such as 'Morning Brief Exercise,' '365+ Physical Activity,' 'Community-based Sports Club League,' and 'Girls' Sports Club Activities.'"
