Recognized for Accuracy and Convenience of Lingo Model
Ranked No.1 at Prestigious International Conference in Machine Translation Field
On the 7th, Samil PwC announced that its self-developed generative artificial intelligence (AI) translation model was recognized for its excellence by winning first place at the Workshop on Machine Translation (WMT).
The specialized translation model (tentatively named Lingo) developed by Samil PwC's GEN AI team ranked first in the patent category of WMT, achieving higher accuracy than ChatGPT-based translations. WMT is a globally recognized conference in the field of machine translation, alongside the International Workshop on Spoken Language Translation (IWSLT) and the Workshop on Asian Translation (WAT).
Launched last October with the recruitment of AI experts, the GEN AI team has independently developed a large language model (LLM) optimized for specialized fields based on the vast data of Samil Accounting Corporation. In particular, the Lingo model received evaluations for providing higher accuracy and convenience than literal translations by translating terminology contextually in specialized fields such as accounting and law. This model is expected to be applied not only in accounting but also in tax and ESG fields in the future.
Additionally, the GEN AI team has been invited to present research on this translation model at a workshop of EMNLP (Empirical Methods in Natural Language Processing), a prestigious conference in the field of natural language processing, to be held in Miami, USA, this November. The paper’s topic is “Efficient Terminology Integration for LLM-based Translation in Specialized Domains,” addressing consistency and accuracy of translation terminology in specialized fields such as law, medicine, and accounting.
Lee Myung-seop, Digital and Tech Lead (Partner) at Samil PwC, said, “Through this award, the excellence of the translation model developed by Samil PwC has been recognized at an international competition,” and added, “We will continue to enhance work efficiency and digital capabilities through the development of AI technologies specialized in professional fields such as accounting.”
