Gyeonggi Province concluded the '2024 Korea Companion Animal Employment Fair' held on the 4th at Banryeomaru Yeoju, the largest complex cultural space for companion animals in Korea, with the participation of about 1,000 people including 26 companion animal departments nationwide (18 group participants), 32 related industry companies, job seekers, and the general public.
The '2024 Korea Companion Animal Employment Fair' was the first event of its kind in Korea, serving as a platform to connect the companion animal industry with talent through job information and employment exchanges.
Among the participating companies, 15 conducted on-site job interviews, with 38 job seekers attending the interviews. In addition, programs focused on companion animal jobs were held, including special lectures on the outlook of the companion animal industry, recruitment requirement briefings for four industry sectors, company promotion booths, employment coaching rooms, and promotion of animal welfare policies and adoption.
A student who participated in the fair said, "I was unsure how to apply what I studied in my major and what additional skills I needed, but learning about the recruitment requirements for various jobs helped me plan a more concrete career path."
A young job seeker preparing for employment said, "I heard in advance that there would be job interviews, so I prepared my resume and self-introduction letter. I was able to apply to several companies and also had consultations at company booths, which was very helpful."
A school official who applied for group participation said, "Until now, companion animal fairs were limited to company promotions, but this fair provided students with the opportunity to directly access employment information from managers and experts and to engage in actual hiring, which is why we decided to participate."
A company representative conducting job interviews said, "It is not common for many companion animal majors and talents from across the country to gather in one place, so I was very pleased to hear that on-site interview rooms were also operated."
At the event, attended by the Gyeonggi Provincial Council, the Mayor of Yeoju, and the Yeoju City Council, an 'Animal Protection Welfare Pledge Ceremony' was held together with representatives from companies, schools, students, and animal protection organizations to commemorate the establishment of 'Animal Protection Day.'
Oh Hu-seok, Deputy Governor for Administration of Gyeonggi Province, said, "It is very meaningful to hold this companion animal employment fair to commemorate the establishment of Animal Protection Day. There are 95 companion animal departments nationwide, and I hope this fair will be a time to envision how the companion animal industry will develop in the future."
