New Trump Criticism Ad Airs in Battleground States
U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris has released a campaign ad targeting Republican candidate former President Donald Trump's refusal to accept the 2020 election results.
On the 6th (local time), Vice President Harris posted on her X (formerly Twitter), "Trump lost the 2020 election," and pointed out, "He refused to accept the will of the people, sent armed mobs to the U.S. Capitol, and threatened the life of his own vice president (Mike Pence)."
She then added, "We cannot allow him a second term," and uploaded a new digital advertisement video.
The new ad is 30 seconds long and features footage from the January 6, 2021 Capitol attack, along with former President Trump's voice saying, "We fight like hell. If we don’t fight like hell, we’re not going to have a country anymore." It began airing in key battleground states from that day.
The ad includes captions such as 'Pressuring officials,' 'Spreading lies,' 'Inciting mobs,' and 'Threatening Pence’s life.' It also shows consecutive photos of former Vice President Pence and J.D. Vance, the Ohio senator and Trump’s running mate in this election, emphasizing, "And next time, there will be no one to stop him (Trump)."
This ad was released after Special Counsel Jack Smith’s team submitted a new 165-page court filing on the 2nd, arguing that Trump’s refusal to accept the election results was a private act, not a public act protected by immunity.
U.S. political media outlet Politico reported, "It is rare for the Harris campaign to launch such attacks," noting, "Vice President Harris and President Joe Biden have mentioned the January 6 Capitol riot during the campaign, but they have rarely used paid advertisements to make such attacks."
