Earned Over 15 Million Won in 3 Hours... Han River Convenience Store Benefits from Fireworks Festival Boom

On the 5th, more than one million people gathered around Yeouido Hangang Park in Seoul for the 'Seoul World Fireworks Festival 2024,' leading to a surge in sales at nearby convenience stores.


On the 6th, GS25 analyzed the previous day's sales at 12 stores in areas crowded with fireworks festival attendees, including Yeouido and Ichon-dong in Seoul, revealing sales increased up to 8.7 times compared to the previous Saturday (September 28).

The peak sales period at convenience stores was analyzed to be between 3 PM and 5 PM.


Although the fireworks show started around 7:30 PM, citizens had already secured spots at prime viewing locations along the Hangang River from early afternoon, enjoying snacks while waiting for the event to begin.


At the store with the highest sales, over 15 million KRW in sales were recorded within just three hours from 3 PM to 6 PM, exceeding 5 million KRW per hour.


Looking at the sales growth rates of key items compared to the previous Saturday, mat rentals increased by 81.5 times, disposable auxiliary batteries by 69.3 times, and cold-weather items such as hot packs by 50.9 times.


Sales of ready-to-eat meals like grilled GoPizza and Dakgangjeong increased 74 times, steamed buns and roasted sweet potatoes 41 times, chocolates 20.7 times, snacks 11.8 times, side dishes 8.5 times, and simple meals such as lunch boxes and gimbap 4.9 times.


Alcohol sales also rose, with highballs increasing 13.2 times, beer 11.9 times, and coffee and tea 7.8 times.
