Yangju-si Successfully Hosts 'Healing Day Together' in Commemoration of Mental Health Day

Yangju City held the "Healing Day Together" event with the Yangju City Mental Health Welfare Center on the 3rd at Okjeong Lake Park to commemorate Mental Health Day.

Yangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kang Su-hyun) announced on the 5th that it successfully held the 'Healing Day Together' event in collaboration with the Yangju Mental Health Welfare Center (Director Oh Sang-hoon) at Okjeong Lake Park on the 3rd to commemorate Mental Health Day (October 10).

The event was attended by about 1,000 citizens and was designed with the theme of the movie "Inside Out," which deals with emotions, aiming to improve negative perceptions of mental illness and provide accurate knowledge and prevention methods.

The event featured a screening of the movie Inside Out1 and various experience booths corresponding to the movie characters, including Anxiety Zone (stress test), Sadness Zone (depression self-assessment), Embarrassment Zone (pregnancy simulation), Timid Zone (auditory hallucination experience), Anger Zone (mental health OX quiz), and Joy Zone (hope capsule).

Director Oh Sang-hoon said, “Through this event, we hope to create a mental health culture without discrimination, eliminate social prejudice against mental illness, and build a healthy community where everyone lives together.”

Mayor Kang Su-hyun stated, “I hope this event will be a time to understand the difficulties of people with mental illness and empathize with their emotions, and serve as a platform to eliminate prejudice against mental illness.”

Meanwhile, Yangju City has entrusted the mental health promotion project to Uijeongbu Eulji University Hospital and operates various programs for the mental health promotion of Yangju citizens, including counseling and case management for mental illness patients, intervention for high-risk groups, mental health promotion projects by life cycle, program operation, and treatment cost support, with mental health professional counselors including psychiatrists.
