Employee Volunteer Activities... 'U+ Kids Zone' Exclusive Kit
Disaster Relief Site Support... "Efforts for Social Responsibility"
LG Uplus announced on the 6th that its employees participated in a volunteer activity to produce 'U+ Kids Zone' exclusive child relief kits to be installed at disaster relief sites.
U+ Kids Zone is a child-only care center installed and operated by LG Uplus at disaster relief sites. This activity is a follow-up measure to the business agreement signed last July with the international relief organization The Promise and the Korea Central Volunteer Center, aimed at preparing necessary items in advance for operating child-friendly spaces during disaster situations.
About 20 employees, including Kim Chang-hoon, chairman of the LG Uplus Labor Union, union members, and the ESG Promotion Team, participated in this volunteer activity and produced a total of 100 sets of child relief kits. The relief kits included coloring books, colored pencils, toys, full-body pillows, and school supplies that can help children’s psychological stability and be used for care activities. The completed kits will be stored in the logistics warehouse of the social enterprise 'Cheongmil' located in Hanam-si, Gyeonggi-do, and will be immediately supplied to disaster relief sites as needed.
At U+ Kids Zone, air tents will be installed to carry out child care activities, and tablet PCs and heating and cooling devices will be provided to use the kids-specialized service 'Idulnara.' In cooperation with The Promise and the Korea Central Volunteer Center, education, play, and care programs will be jointly operated.
Previously, LG Uplus also prepared a mobile phone battery charging vehicle for disaster relief activities and specialized activities to ensure animal rights. On the 27th of last month, LG Uplus participated in the 'Elderly-Friendly Shelter Operation' training held at Jocheon Gymnasium in Jeju City together with The Promise and Animal Freedom Union, thoroughly checking overall disaster relief activities and making full preparations.
Park Kyung-joong, Executive Director of External Cooperation at LG Uplus, said, "We will continue to expand child-friendly spaces and support measures through various disaster relief activities, and through this, we will strive to fulfill the corporate social responsibility in disaster relief."
