Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is hosting the ‘Traditional Market Night Food Culture Festival’ at Jayang Hangang Traditional Market and Myeongok Market Alley Shopping District to welcome the cool autumn season.
This festival, aimed at revitalizing night-time and food culture, was organized after two traditional markets in the area were selected for this year’s Seoul City public project, the ‘Night-time and Food Culture Revitalization Support Project.’
First, on the 8th from 5 PM, the ‘Starry Jayang Hangang Beer Festival’ will be held at Jayang Hangang Traditional Market. Various events are prepared, including a merchant cooking tasting session where visitors can sample dishes made by market vendors, ▲ congratulatory performances ▲ residents’ singing contest ▲ and a prize event for visitors who certify their visit to the International Garden Expo.
Ahead of the night food culture festival on the 8th, Jayang Hangang Traditional Market will hold a payback event on the 5th and 7th, where customers who present receipts of purchases over 30,000 won will receive 5,000 won in market gift certificates, expressing gratitude to residents visiting the market.
From October 31 to November 1, the ‘Night!! Have a Drink with Myeongok!’ Makgeolli Festival will be held at Myeongok Market Alley Shopping District. During the festival, a variety of programs will be offered for all ages to enjoy together, including tasting of Paldo Makgeolli and Gosari Chicken Soup, ▲ Myeongok Music Concert ▲ and a roulette prize event.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “We have prepared this festival more richly and uniquely to not only recover the commercial district but also to develop traditional markets into complex cultural spaces that people of all ages can visit.” He added, “We hope many residents visit Jayang Hangang Traditional Market and Myeongok Market to create joyful memories with family and friends on clear autumn nights.”
