Promoting at Hometown Love Expo
90 Billion Won Raised in Gyeongbuk
Gyeongbuk Province is promoting the Hometown Love Donation Program by participating in the '2024 Hometown Love Expo' held at Daegu EXCO from the 4th to the 6th.
This expo, under the theme 'A Beautiful Donation Toward My Hometown,' aims to widely publicize the Hometown Love Donation Program to the citizens of Daegu and Gyeongbuk, foster a sound donation culture, and revitalize the local economy.
Kim Hakhong, Deputy Governor of Gyeongbuk Province, urged many people to participate in the Hometown Love Donation Program at the Hometown People Expo.
Since its introduction last year, the Hometown Love Donation Program has contributed to expanding local finances and revitalizing the regional economy.
In particular, thanks to high interest from the public and local governments, approximately 65 billion KRW (525,000 donations) were collected nationwide last year, with 9 billion KRW (66,000 donations) raised in the Gyeongbuk region alone.
On the first day of the expo, June 4, more than 500 people attended the grand opening ceremony, including Kim Hakhong, Vice Governor of Gyeongbuk Province; Park Sungman, Chairman of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Council; and Choi Byungil, President of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Residents Association. Various events such as a special live broadcast, donation relay, on-site donation counseling and registration, and live commerce for thank-you gifts were held with the participation of Gyeongbuk Province, cities and counties, the provincial council, the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, and thank-you gift companies.
During the expo, a Hometown Love Donation Center will be operated to provide donation consultations, and various events will be held.
Main events include 'Find the 1004th Donor!', which awards a prize to the donor of a specific sequence number, a relay mission quiz event where participants complete missions by finding hints around the expo, and a roulette event for those who present a receipt of over 10,000 KRW at the Hometown Love Business Pavilion.
Additionally, the expo features promotional booths for the province and cities/counties, showcases over 100 unique thank-you gifts from Gyeongbuk, and offers various programs such as on-site donations, tasting corners for thank-you gifts, and booth visit events, allowing visitors to experience the appeal of the Gyeongbuk Hometown Love Donation Program firsthand.
In particular, the Gyeongbuk promotional booth attracted visitors' attention with an exhibition of four works by master ceramic artists recognized as Gyeongbuk Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Kim Hakhong, Vice Governor of Gyeongbuk Province, stated, "I hope this event will further raise awareness of the Hometown Love Donation Program and help spread the culture of small donations. I ask for the continued support and cooperation of residents so that the program can quickly take root and contribute to the development of the local community."
