Chairman Jang Dong-sik of Gwanak-gu Council Elected for Fourth Term from People Power Party

Among the 25 district councils of Seoul, Gwanak-gu Council, which was the only one that had not formed its leadership, elected Jang Dong-sik, a member of the People Power Party (Gwanak 4th district, 4-term), as the chairperson.

Thus, the leadership for the second half of the 8th term of the local government was finally formed after about 100 days, with the election of the chairperson.

On the 4th at 10 a.m., Gwanak-gu Council held a plenary session and voted between two candidates: Jang Dong-sik and Ju Soon-ja, a 5-term member from the Democratic Party. Jang received 13 votes, while Ju received 9 votes.

The council is currently in recess ahead of the election of the vice chairperson, with People Power Party members Im Chang-bin and Jang Hyun-su as candidates.

Once the chairperson and vice chairperson are elected, Gwanak-gu Council plans to elect the heads of standing committees as well.

With the formation of the leadership in Gwanak-gu Council, the supplementary budget proposal submitted by Gwanak-gu is also expected to be reviewed and approved.
