Public Art Education to Revitalize the Choral Arts Ecosystem with Geumcheon Musical Center
Students to Perform on Choir Stage at Year-End Choral Festival Scheduled for December 2024
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it will operate the public arts education program "Chorus EASY Academy" through the Geumcheon Musical Center.
The program is held at the Geumcheon Musical Center for local residents who want to systematically learn chorus.
"Chorus EASY Academy" consists of various lectures necessary for chorus, such as basic vocalization, sight-singing and ear training, and the history of choral music. It is conducted in a total of 12 sessions, with 6 basic courses and 6 advanced courses, held every Wednesday and Friday at 6 p.m. On Wednesdays, chorus ensemble and vocalization classes will be held, and on Fridays, humanities lectures on sight-singing, ear training, and the history of choral music will be conducted.
The students will showcase their choral skills learned so far on stage at the "2024 Year-End Chorus Festival" scheduled for December.
In addition, the district operates the "Harmony Men's Choir," composed of adult men, and the "Istar Show Choir," composed of youth from 6th grade and above in elementary school. Members are recruited on an ongoing basis, and after formation, they are scheduled to perform at various local events.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, "I hope that through this academy, Geumcheon-gu can establish itself as the center of choral culture in the southwestern region," and added, "We will continue to strengthen Geumcheon's cultural city brand and discover various cultural and artistic programs that residents can enjoy together."
The Geumcheon Musical Center was established based on an agreement between Geumcheon-gu, the Office of Education, and Gasan Middle School. The center serves as an arts education facility supporting musical education and creation for youth and local residents, playing an important role in growing as a gateway cultural city in the southwestern region.
