Former announcer and broadcaster Park Ji-yoon has stated that she "has never committed adultery" amid a mutual alienation lawsuit filed with Choi Dong-seok.

According to a report by Ilgan Sports on the 3rd, Park Ji-yoon opened up, saying, "I couldn't respond no matter how unfair it was because of the children. But now I feel I have to speak." She continued, "I have never committed adultery or any immoral acts during my marriage. Both my ex-spouse and my acquaintances know that I could never have an affair with that person."

She said, "I have become an immoral mother who went on a trip to the U.S. with a longtime friend, Mr. A, but at that time, my ex-husband (Choi Dong-seok) knew that I was meeting a friend who has lived in the U.S. since high school during a business trip," adding, "Everyone around us, including myself, knows very well that there could never be a romantic relationship between that friend and me. Yet spreading this as sensational news to the media is truly despicable and makes my blood boil."

She also revealed, "Before filing for divorce, the other party posted on social media (SNS) in a way that made it seem like I was the one committing adultery. But he said, 'I never said it was you. I just posted a famous quote, so what does it matter?'" She confessed, "I really wanted to say that I never did such a thing, but my agency told me that the choice of words was too provocative. Now, I deeply regret that."

Park Ji-yoon stated, "Because of the subject-less posts the other party kept uploading, I gradually came to be seen as someone who committed adultery and had an affair during the marriage," adding, "I never spoke out because I hoped the children would not be hurt any further while I fought alone by suing against the fake news." She added, "It’s not something that can be resolved just by me being careful. My heart breaks every time I think of the children."

She emphasized, "Until now, I have not made a single explanation or excuse. Even the children asked me, 'Mom, aren’t you angry?' and 'Mom, why don’t you explain?' I never wanted a mudslinging fight, nor have I ever engaged in defamation lawsuits or media plays. The reason I am enduring and saying this now is because I don’t want to be an immoral mother for the sake of the children’s future, and because I am confident in myself."

Meanwhile, Park Ji-yoon and Choi Dong-seok, who joined KBS as announcers in the 30th class, married in November 2009 and have one son and one daughter. They announced their separation last October after 14 years of marriage and filed mutual alienation damages lawsuits while proceeding with their divorce case.
